The video-sharing website YouTube, which is owned by Google, announced on Tuesday that it had taken down more than 1.7 million videos in India for breaking its Community Guidelines in its quarterly report. During the same time period, the video streaming service eliminated more than 5.6 million videos from throughout the world for infringing upon its community guidelines. According to the study on the enforcement of the Community Guidelines, more than 94% of these videos were initially detected by automated systems rather than by human beings.

Three-sixty-five percent of the videos that were found by machines were deleted before they even got a single watch, while the remaining 31 percent received between one and ten views before being deleted. More than 67 percent of the videos that violated YouTube’s terms of service were removed before they garnered more than 10 views. In addition, during the third quarter of 2022, YouTube removed almost 5 million channels because they violated their Community Guidelines. According to the research, the majority of these channels were closed because they violated the spam policies of the corporation in some way, such as by using false metadata or thumbnails, frauds, video spam, or spam in the comments section. More than 728 million comments were deleted by the video streaming platform during the third quarter of 2022, the vast majority of which were spam.

According to the research, almost 99.99 percent of the comments that were deleted were discovered through automated means. There is a document called the Community Guidelines that lays out the ground principles for what is and is not permitted on YouTube. In order to ensure compliance with its policies, the organization uses a hybrid approach that combines machine learning with human reviewers.

Meanwhile, YouTube has reached an all-time high of over 80 million subscribers worldwide, counting both trial users and paying customers for its Music and Premium services. It represents an increase of 30 million users as compared to the 50 million subscribers that the video streaming company revealed the previous year. According to Lyor Cohen, who serves as the global president of Music for YouTube, “YouTube’s twin-engine of revenue — subscriptions and adverts — is the real deal.” [Citation needed]

According to Cohen, there are a number of factors that contributed to this rise in subscriber numbers. “YouTube Premium” has been upgraded by the corporation to include new features such as afterparties, which provide subscribers with exclusive access to livestream material as well as discounts on the most recent gear and services offered by Google.
