One Billion Rides Are Completed By Careem, A Dubai-Based Company

Careem

Careem, which has its headquarters in Dubai, has successfully completed more than one billion rides, and the platform’s one billionth ride took place in Qatar while the FIFA World Cup was being held there. The company, which first started out as a provider of ride services in 2012, has since grown to become the most successful multi-service platform in the region.

Over the course of the company’s history, Careem captains have logged over nine billion kilometers of driving time across more than 80 different cities. The total number of rides taken in Pakistan is 299 million, which places it first among all areas. Saudi Arabia and Egypt follow in second and third place, respectively.

“Reaching the great landmark of one billion rides is owing to the hard work of our Captains and colleagues as well as the trust that our customers have placed in us. We count it a blessing that we have made it simpler for individuals to move around and that we have provided chances for gainful employment to more than 2.5 million people. According to Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and Co-founder of Careem, “The opportunity that lies ahead is both huge and humbling; our region is full of untapped potential, and there is so much more that we must do to simplify and enhance life for people in the region.”

Earlier this month, before the beginning of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Careem announced that clients can now opt for inter-country travel from Saudi Arabia to Doha for FIFA World Cup 2022 via a booking with Careem. The tournament will take place in Qatar.

“Inter-country rides to and from Saudi Arabia to Qatar will make it possible for people to plan a travel experience that is both more affordable and less complicated. The company said in a statement that was emailed to customers that customers can only book a transport to Doha one day in advance, and that the car can only carry up to three passengers.

According to a statement provided by a spokeswoman for Careem to Arabian Business, the price of the taxi service will be around SAR1,000 (or $266.10) while traveling from any location in Dammam or Al-Ahsa to Doha.

Captain Razak Uppati and a customer named Genera Tesoro were responsible for completing the one billionth ride in Qatar, which is a significant milestone. Both the customer and the captain were presented with gifts: the captain received a trip back to India, and the customer was given ride-hailing credits for an entire year.

“I give thanks to God that we have successfully accomplished the one billionth journey. I have been working at Careem for close to four years, and throughout that time I have accumulated a great number of memorable experiences. My favourite part about what I do is interacting with people from different parts of the world because I get the chance to do so. To quote Captain Razak Uppati: “I have three children back home in Kerala, India, and I am really delighted to meet them very soon.”
